Before buying more traffic, check whether visitors understand your offer and can take the next step. These common design issues are worth reviewing.
The answer is almost always poor user experience. Here are 10 UI/UX mistakes I see on client websites again and again — and how to fix them.
1. No Clear Call to Action (CTA)
The problem: Visitors don’t know what to do next.
The fix: Every page needs ONE primary CTA. Make it visually prominent, use action-oriented text (“Get Started”, “Book a Call”), and place it above the fold.
2. Slow Page Load Speed
The problem: If your site takes more than 3 seconds to load, 53% of visitors leave.
The fix: Compress images, use lazy loading, minify CSS/JS, use a CDN, and choose fast hosting.
3. Not Mobile-Responsive
The problem: 60%+ of web traffic is mobile. If your site doesn’t work on phones, you’re losing most of your audience.
The fix: Design mobile-first. Test on real devices, not just browser devtools.
4. Cluttered Layout
The problem: Too much information, too many choices, visual noise.
The fix: Embrace white space. Guide the user’s eye with visual hierarchy. Less is more.
5. Poor Typography
The problem: Hard-to-read fonts, small text, poor contrast, walls of text.
The fix: Use professional fonts (Inter, Outfit). Minimum 16px body text. High contrast ratios. Short paragraphs.
6. Missing Trust Signals
The problem: Visitors don’t trust your brand enough to take action.
The fix: Add testimonials, reviews, client logos, case studies, security badges, and a professional “About” section.
7. Complex Forms
The problem: Long, intimidating forms drive users away.
The fix: Ask for the minimum information needed. Use multi-step forms for complex flows. Add progress indicators.
8. No Social Proof
The problem: People follow the crowd. Without social proof, they hesitate.
The fix: Show real numbers (“500+ projects completed”), display reviews prominently, feature case studies.
9. Inconsistent Design
The problem: Different fonts, colours, and styles across pages create a unprofessional impression.
The fix: Use a design system with consistent colours, typography, spacing, and components.
10. Hiding Contact Information
The problem: Making it hard to reach you signals that you don’t want to be contacted.
The fix: Put your contact info in the header/footer. Add a WhatsApp button. Include a simple contact form on every page.
